CRAFTING TIP OF THE WEEK (#76) Homemade Stickles?

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY BLOGGERS!

For today's tip I thought I would share how to make a homemade version of "stickles" that won't rub off your crafty creations.

I learned by trial and error that certain products work best.
Here's a list of supplies you will need:
Glitter
Glossy Accents by Ranger(use this medium for fine glitter coating)
OR
3D Crystal Laquer by Sakura (use this for chunky glitter coating)
Straight Pin
Old Paintbrush to coat the glitter on to your paper or project
Wood Stick
Recycled packaging with a deep well, paper cup or painter's palette- Basically anything that will hold your glitter/glue mixture

Instructions: Depending on the size of the area you want to coat, place the glossy accents medium or 3D Crystal Lacquer in your "dish".

Then add your glitter of choice by sprinkling into the glue or scooping it with your wood stick.

Mix the glitter & glue with your wood stick until it forms a thick paste. Place your brush in the paste then brush it evenly on the surface you want to glitterize.

Use the pin to pop any air bubbles that may form. Set aside & let it dry. Once dry, the glitter will be encased in the glue therefore staying in tact and not rubbing off. Make sure to wash your brush immediately after applying the mixture.

I am in no way discouraging you from buying Stickles. I am just sharing a way to make your own version with products you may already have on hand.

Have a "love-filled" day!

  1. Hi Sonia, Thanks for this great tip!! Do you think that if we mix a lot of the glossy accents, and glitter, could we put it in a squeeze bottle? Do you think that would work? I wonder if we keep the stickles bottles when they are empty, and we clean them, and mix a lot of this recipe that you gave us, and poured it in, that we could use them in the same way that we use the stickles. I think it would work, what do you think? Karen<3
